Business types and sizes serviced by CitySoft

Client Profile

The globally recognized business software developers CitySoft represent define the business software marketplace differently.

CitySoft has aimed with their Web site to consistently position each ERP system they represent in the generally accepted industry segments rather than necessarily adopting the positioning statements from vendors. However, there may be instances where vendor documents or blogs refer to their products sitting in a different business segment than the one adopted by CitySoft.

Tier 3 (SMB Applications)

Sage 300, D365 and SAP Business One compete in the small to medium sized business (SMB) marketplace. (Businesses who have outgrown MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks and the like (Tier 4 accounting systems) and who turnover somewhere around $5 M p.a. through to ~ $50 / $60 M p.a. AUD). Of course there are exceptions, however this turnover range applies to most.

Tier 2 SMEs

Sage X3 is designed for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with turnover generally upwards of $50 M p.a. AUD through to ~$1.5B AUD p.a. or there abouts.

Segment elasticity

The inclusion of extension products in an ERP solution can add significant functional depth, making the ERP solution attractive to larger businesses and enterprises. Examples of this include adding BEAS or BatchMaster to SAP Business One or D365. This can arguably push the ERP from being an SMB product to servicing SMEs.

Segment differentiators

SME & SMB Characteristics

Apart from turnover, enterprises in tier 2 generally operate multiple sites & companies and may operate companies in multiple countries. Inter-site transactions, consolidations, eliminations, advanced reporting and web user access are a must whereas tier 3 companies generally operate one main trading company and possibly a small number of non-trading entities.

License Count & Scale

Finally, the licensing count, named or concurrent users, typically starts at around 30 licenses with SMEs. The average user count for SAP Business One, an SMB system, is 18 globally but 13 locally (ANZ) with Sage 300 only slightly lower than SAP Business One’s count.

Technically speaking, both Sage 300 and SAP Business One can scale beyond 100 users however generally speaking, application limitations at a functional level rather than a technical level are likely to arise as user numbers grow, which often forces companies to switch to an SME level ERP system.  Sage X3 ERP scales to 5,000 + concurrent users.

Performance and useability matters such as data management, data archiving, data views, and system responsiveness often referred to as scalability constraints can also drive a need to invest in more sophisticated ERP software.

Industries

The emergence of better Cloud connectors and buyer preference for speciality systems such as POS & eCommerce software has typically resulted in developers of ERP software focusing on more traditional ERP capabilities.

The globally recognized SMB & SME ERPs contain features and capabilities that make them more or less attractive to particular industries. For instance, SAP Business One is a wonderful SMB ERP for wholesalers and with BatchMaster or BEAS it becomes an excellent ERP for process and discrete manufacturers. The addition of SAP “Core Systems” a field services cloud application, turns SAP Business One into a powerful service management system. Sage X3 ERP for SMEs is available in three suites covering advanced financials, distribution and manufacturing.

CitySoft work with a wide range of companies across a large number of industries including manufacturers, technical services, wholesalers and enterprises with complex financial system needs.
